On June 9th, sponsored by the Chinese embassy in Azerbaijan and Confucius Institute at Azerbaijan University of Languages, the "Chinese bridge" world middle school students Chinese competition preliminaries in Azerbaijan Division was held in Azerbaijan University of Languages. The vice president of Azerbaijan University of Languages, the dean of art department of Azerbaijan National University of Arts and the director of the administrative consular section of Chinese embassy in Azerbaijan Fuzhong Sun attended the competition and gave their speeches.

There were totally seven middle school students from Baku No.25 middle school, Baku No.53 middle school, Sumqayit No.11 middle school and Turkey middle school, etc. took part in the competition. Through theme speech, knowledge quiz, talent show and other kinds of ways, the contestants showed their Chinese language proficiency to the judges and audience, and they expressed their affection to Chinese culture.
During the keynote speech part, with the theme of "learning Chinese words, friends all over the world", contestants shared their interesting experiences in learning Chinese and described their indissoluble bonds with China. Calm and responsive, the contestants showed their understanding in Chinese history, geography, culture and other related contents in knowledge quiz part. During the talent show, every contestant showed his talent: Chinese dance, crosstalk performance, Chinese song performance, poetry recitation, tai chi fan, cucurbit flute and so on, performed one by one. The wonderful performances won the applause of the audiences.

During this time, students from Confucius Institute showed splendid Chinese songs and graceful ribbon dancing. Students from Azerbaijan National University of Art and Culture showed their wonderful fashion performance “China – the land of flowers”. It pushed up the site atmosphere to a climax.
After a fierce competition, Aliyev Yashar, a student from 145th middle school in Baku, won the champion.

The foreign secretary of Chinese embassy in Azerbaijan, Gurmamadli medi said in his summary statement that "Chinese bridge" was not just a game, but also a bridge which connected people of different regions and cultures. He also hopes that everyone could love Chinese more and continues to work hard to achieve great success.
